A nymphaeum is a shrine or a grotto from ancient times, dedicated to a nymph or nymphs. They usually contain a water feature and various artworks or sculptures, and serve as a place of rest for the weary.

I initially wasn't going to have a set theme for my exhibition; it was going to be more of a general exploration of my artistic journey. But this theme and title slowly crept up on me, and now I think it is so perfect! Much of my art has always been inspired by ancient myth or nymph-like figures in nature, so what theme could be more perfect for my debut solo exhibition? From there the whole idea really began to come together.

'Nymphaeum' features many brand new paintings, both portraits and abstracts, as well as several old favourites from throughout my life. This exhibition is truly a dream come true - not just in terms of the point it marks in my career as an artist - in this synthesis of ideas and materials, something that has lived in my soul my entire life can finally take form.

There are so many phenomenal people who have been part of this journey, and it would take an eternity to thank them all adequately. Here, though, I would especially like to acknowledge my Granny, Vee, who is no longer with us. She was always the loudest and most consistent champion of my creativity and passion for art, and I will always be grateful for that.

I hope you will come along to the Nymphaeum and become another treasured part of my life as an artist! Whether you're just curious about my unrevealed paintings, or you're looking to purchase some art, you are more than welcome.

Original paintings will be available for purchase, as well as limited prints, and items such as stickers and bookmarks.

I would love nothing more than to see you there!

Aroha nui,
Len x
